Christenings - Baptisms - Baby Blessings

Congratulations On Your Wonderful New Baby!

Isn’t parenthood a glorious, amazing thing. It is a gift of love that never stops giving.

Hi, I am Barbara Lodge, an ordained minister who creates unique and personal ceremonies for christenings, baptisms and baby blessings. It is always a joy to be a part of such a special time in the life of a family. A baby is a gift of hope and promise, a sweet continuation of the power of Life, expressed in the new little person you hold in your arms.

Now is a great time to share your happiness and to celebrate your newest family member. Having a ceremony that is written expressly for your child allows the hopes and dreams you have for their future to be expressed in a beautiful, natural way. Surrounded by those who mean the most to you, the ceremony takes on a profoundly tender intimacy, touching you and your loved ones very deeply.

Include Personal Touches In Your Ceremony

As with any other ceremony of major significance in your life, the more personal elements you include, the richer will be the experience for yourselves and for your guests. Whenever possible, be sure to incorporate anything that is important to you and your family for it will create an even more touching and memorable celebration. The beauty of a ceremony written specifically for your child is that it becomes a reflection of your love for them while also providing a heartwarming way for your family and guests to express their love for you and your little one.

Rev. Lodge and cute Little Man

This christening took place on the first birthday of our Little Man of Honor. Before the ceremony began, we wrote our prayers for him and placed the papers into the water that would be used for the ceremony. The loving energies of all those prayers became a part of the water used for his christening.

Christenings and Baptisms

People often ask about the difference between a Christening and a Baptism. Traditionally the Baptism signified a spiritual rebirth while a Christening was a Baptism that could also include a naming of the child and a dedication of the child to the service of God and the Christian faith. In modern times, however, the terms have become synonymous and the ceremonies performed are generally the same. Elements of both types of ceremonies have blended into what we now think of as a Christening or a Baptism and the more modern variations will often allow for the inclusion of personal aspects that are important to you.

Baby Blessing Ceremonies

Baby Blessings are very popular for those who prefer a more secular approach to welcoming their new family member. They can include whatever you have in mind, including readings, songs, welcoming sentiments expressed by families and friends, even elements of Christenings and Baptisms. This ceremony celebrates your baby in any way that suits you best.

Many Years of Experience

Ordained in 1996, I have over 20 years of experience helping parents celebrate their love for their children. The first ceremony I ever conducted as a minister was a christening and I will always carry a soft spot in my heart for the tenderness of such an important time in a parent’s life. The ceremony we create together will help you express your love for your child and your hopes and dreams for their future in a touching, memorable way. Learn how extraordinary your baby’s christening, baptism or baby blessing can be when it is a true expression of the amazing love that has come into your life.
